The Passport allows you access to nine locked sites, including the Monster Mine area, Redruth Gaol, the underground Unicorn Brewery cellars and the Dugouts. Free entry to Burra’s Museums during their opening hours is now included with the cost of the passport! A comprehensive guide book details 49 historic sites over an 11 km driving trail. Available seven days a week from the Burra and Goyder Visitor Centre.
Built in 1879 this lovely church is open for public viewing daily.
The church boasts a 1905 Dodd pipe organ as well as some amazing stained glass windows made by Edward Brooks, South Australia’s first stained glass maker.
A fossil display of the world’s largest marsupial, the Diprotodon, may be enjoyed at the newly restored Burra Railway Station.
The Station is open from 11am – 1pm, 7 days a week.

Mount Bryan was the birthplace of Sir Hubert Wilkins, one of Australia’s most daring aviators and eplorers. Visit the childhood home of adventurer and explorer, Sir Hubert Wilkins.
The homestead is located at Mount Bryan East, part of the Dare’s Hill Driving Circuit.
Drive north out of the Mount Bryan township along the Barrier Highway, and look for the Mount Bryan East Road on your right. Simply follow the signs to the homestead.
Visit at your leisure by collecting the key from the Mount Bryan Hotel (08) 8893 4010, or the Olde School Gallery.
A daylight visit is recommended as there is no power at the homestead.
The Burra Railway Station is a great place to visit. Not only has it been lovingly restored from dereliction and showcases railway history, it is also a function centre, houses the Diprotodon display and boasts a unique bed and breakfast.
The Station is open daily from 11am – 1pm.

Situated within the old Burra Telegraph and Post Office building, from which J McDouall Stuart sent his message in Dec 1862, to inform the SA authorities that he had successfully crossed Australia.

The Burra Town Hall is one of Australia’s great small halls, built for the Welsh and Cornish miners.
Available for hire as a performance and meeting space, the Hall is open daily from 11am – 3pm showcasing interesting historical displays of Burra.
Those wishing to hire the Town Hall should visit the Burra History Group website, where detailed information exists for technical specifications and costs.
Located approximately 3km north of Burra on the Barrier Highway, lies an abandoned farmhouse.
The cottage, located on ‘Cobb and Co Corner’, was first photographed by iconic Australian landscape photographer, Ken Duncan, and rose to fame on the album cover of Midnight Oil’s ‘Diesel and Dust’ record.
Known as the ‘Midnight Oil House’, this cottage has become one of Australia’s most photographed ruins.
If you do wish to stop for a photo opportunity, please ensure you pull over a safe distance from the highway, and keep behind the fence.
