Address: Hallett Railway Station

For those exploring the Heysen Trail or cycling the Mawson Trail, this hut offers a simple yet welcoming stopover. Maintained by dedicated Friends of the Heysen Trail volunteers, it’s available exclusively for walkers and cyclists. No booking required. The hut is locked, with access via combination #5419.

Facilities include bunks, a water tank, combustion stove, kitchen sink, and toilet, everything you need for a practical overnight stay on the trail.

The hut also carries a touch of recent history. In 2018–2019, volunteers undertook a major refurbishment, replacing the ceiling, painting, installing new benches, and adding a combustion heater. Thanks to a community grant from Energy Australia, the old 1950s sink was replaced with a new stainless steel one, making the hut a comfortable and functional rest point for trail users today.
