Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery
The Eudunda Family Heritage Gallery celebrates the stories and pioneering spirit of the German settlers who began farming the district from the 1840s onward. Since moving into its current home in 1999, the Gallery has grown into a significant community collection, built entirely through generous local donations.
Inside you’ll find detailed family histories, early settler memorabilia, photographs, and displays of locally made farming equipment, along with objects from the former railway, hospital, schools, churches, and many other community organisations.
The complex also includes Gosling’s Cottage, built in the 1880s and named after its first resident, draper Arthur E. Gosling. Accessed through the Gallery, this charming restored cottage offers an intimate look at pioneer domestic life and historic items from Eudunda’s past.
The Gallery building itself has a rich commercial story, once home to Charles Moore & Co. drapers, followed by decades of local businesses including Hambours Ltd (1926 – 1991). In 1999, the Eudunda community with the assistance of Regional Council of Goyder purchased the premises and transformed them into the Heritage Gallery.
Allow at least an hour to explore. For groups of 10 or more, guided tours and luncheon can be arranged with prior booking.
