Discover the fascinating mining heritage of Burra with the iconic Burra Heritage Passport, your key to unlocking the town’s history. Established in 1979, this is one of the longest continually running heritage experiences of its kind in Australia.

Burra, founded in the 1840s, boasts an impressive legacy, and the Heritage Passport Key allows you to immerse yourself in this unique past. With the key, you gain access to 11 locked National Heritage listed sites, including the Monster Mine Site, Morphett’s Engine House, and Redruth Gaol. Each site tells a story, from Burras bustling mining days to its cultural evolution.

The key is valid for up to two days, providing ample time to explore and appreciate as many sites as possible. We recommend allowing a minimum of four hours to experience a taste of the rich narrative each location offers.

When purchasing the Burra Heritage Passport, you’ll also enjoy:

  • Free entry to the Bon Accord Mine Museum.
  • A copy of “Discovering Historic Burra,” which details an additional 46 historic sites of interest along an 11 km driving trail.
  • For questions about mobility access, download our Mobility Access Guide here.
